Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften, about 10 minutes.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for another 15-20 minutes until the onions are caramelized and golden brown.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the fresh thyme leaves.
Serving

Notes

Store leftovers in airtight containers. Can freeze portions and reheat in a skillet over low heat. Add a dash of balsamic vinegar when reheating for freshness.
