Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, beating until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and chocolate chips.
- Scoop tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing about two inches apart.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges turn golden.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
These cookies can be enjoyed warm or stored in an airtight container for up to a week. Freezing portions of dough is recommended for future baking.
