Ingredients

For the yogurt base

  • 2 cups vanilla Greek yogurt or a dairy-free alternative for those with dietary restrictions
  • 1/3 cup sugar or your preferred sweetener to adjust sweetness
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice for that zesty punch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest to amplify the lemony flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric optional, for a vibrant color
  • a few drops yellow food coloring optional, for visual appeal

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large measuring cup or bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt. Then, incorporate the sugar, followed by the lemon juice and zest. If you’re interested in enhancing the color, you may add turmeric or food coloring here. Whisk until smooth and combined perfectly.

Churning

  • If you have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Freezing

  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour your lemon yogurt mixture into ice cube trays. Freeze until solid. Once frozen, thaw the cubes slightly and then blend the cubes in a food processor or blender until smooth and creamy.

Serving

  • Serve immediately for a soft-serve style treat or store in the freezer for later enjoyment. For an extra touch, garnish with a sprinkle of lemon zest or fresh mint leaves.

Notes

Adjust the sweetness to your preference and experiment with other citrus fruits for a delightful twist. Consider adding pureed berries or serving with granola for added flavor and texture.
