Meatball Base

  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten Binds the meat together.
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream Enhances juiciness.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced Infuses the meatballs with warmth.
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean) Main ingredient for the meatballs.

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce with basil, garlic, and oregano Adds flavor to the dish.
  • 2 tablespoons prepared pesto Adds an inviting zing.
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream Used in the sauce for richness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Mix the ground beef, Parmesan, mozzarella, egg, heavy cream, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Combine gently to avoid overworking the meat.
  • Shape the mixture into balls about the size of a golf ball. This should yield around 12-14 meatballs.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

Cooking

  • Place the meatballs in the air fryer basket in a single layer and air fry for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • While the meatballs are cooking, combine the tomato sauce, pesto, and heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer until heated through.

Serving

  • Serve the meatballs tossed in the sauce or drizzled with sauce on top.

Notes

For enhanced flavors, let the meat mixture sit in the refrigerator for an hour before cooking. Serve with zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice for a complete meal.
