Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Chips Rich, creamy chocolate that melts beautifully.
  • 1 can (14-oz) sweetened condensed milk Adds sweetness and a creamy texture.
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter A touch of richness that softens the chocolate.
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract For a subtle nutty flavor that complements the chocolate.
  • 1 pinch salt To enhance the overall sweetness.

Decorations

  • 36 candy eyes Tiny, colorful eyes that give our mice character.
  • 18 whole almonds, halved For ears that add a nutty crunch.
  • 18 red M&Ms or red sprinkles For cute little noses.
  • 18 licorice strings, cut into 2-inch pieces For playful tails that sway.
  • 1 sheet parchment paper To create a perfect surface for shaping the candies.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to create your shaping surface.
  • In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Stir continuously until completely smooth and melted.
  • Remove from heat and stir in almond extract and a pinch of salt, mixing thoroughly.
  • Refrigerate the mixture for 20 to 30 minutes, allowing it to firm up yet remain pliable.
  • Once chilled, portion the mixture and roll each portion into an oval shape to form the bodies of the mice.
  • Press almond halves onto each oval for ears, add candy eyes, and place a red M&M or sprinkle for the nose.
  • Insert pieces of licorice string into the back of each mouse to create tails.
  • Optionally, drizzle melted white chocolate over the completed mice for a festive touch.
  • Place the finished mice back in the refrigerator until they are set firmly before serving.

Notes

Store assembled mice in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze for up to a month; use a freezer-safe container. For lower-calorie options, try using dark chocolate chips or a lighter version of condensed milk.
