Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Forms the base of our batter.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances overall flavor.
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk Helps the batter rise perfectly.
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature Provide richness and binding.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted Adds richness.
  • extra butter for greasing the pan Prevents sticking and adds flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt until evenly mixed.
  • Slowly pour the lukewarm milk into the flour mixture while whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  • In a separate bowl, lightly whisk the eggs and then add them to the batter, mixing until just combined.
  • Add the melted butter to the batter and whisk gently until just combined.
  • Let the batter rest for at least 15 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and grease the popover pan with melted butter.
  • Once the oven is preheated, place the greased pan in for 2-3 minutes to warm it up.
  • Pour the batter into the hot pan, filling each well about two-thirds full.
  • Bake for 20 minutes at 450°F without opening the door.
  • After 20 minutes, reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for another 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Poke a small hole in the side of each popover during the last 5 minutes of baking to release steam.
  • Remove from the pan and cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

For an extra flavor boost, consider adding herbs or cheese. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
